August 30, 1983 - September 13, 2017
Andy, 34 years old, of Mokena, IL was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer in early January 2017 that metastasized to his spleen, liver, lungs and that was blocking 80% of his large intestine. Sadly the world lost one amazing man to his battle on September 13, 2017.
When Andy’s journey began doctor’s thought that a bulging disc was the source of pain he had been experiencing. It was not until efforts to treat the disc were unsuccessful, and the pain started to increase severely, that he underwent additional testing which resulted in the discovery of cancer. Andy immediately began aggressive chemotherapy
Despite evereything, Andy still remained the most optimistic, energetic and passionate person. Prior to his diagnoses, Andy had successfully left corporate america to begin his dream job working as an assistant brewer at Rock Bottom Brewery in Orland Park. After four months of settling into his new career, he and wife Meggan, welcomed their beloved son Andrew Daniel into the world.
Andy grew up in Brighton Park and Burbank. He attended elementary school at Gunsaulus Scholastic Academy, is an alumni of St. Laurence High School, graduated from Northern University with a B.S. in Business Management and received a certificate in Brewing Technology from the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL. Meggan Mikal attended Lockport Township High School, graduated with a degree in Nursing from Northern Illinois University, attended University of Illinois at Chicago for graduate school and is currently a palliative care nurse practitioner at Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn.
Andy will be deeply missed.
